We are so lucky to have so many fabulous local attractions near us in North Yorkshire and Ryedale specifically.

As we are located just off the A64, we are surrounded by a range of great days out. Here’s just a few;

Woldies – lavender farm

Woldies is a part of Wolds way lavender. It is a Nature Park catering for all ages but specifically families. Woldies have a fun mini ride on train, maze, lavender shop, Takeaway hut and many other attractions. Open weekends and Bank holidays.

Scampston Hall

Castle Howard

Dalby forest is a great place for all the family and has a great range of activities. Dalby forest is home to 8500 acres of breath-taking views and endless walking, running and cycle trails. There is café and shop and large outdoor play area. Have fun swinging in the trees at GO APE and if ground activities are more your thing, then you can enjoy mountain biking or a segway tour.

North Yorkshire water park

Flamingo land

Sea life

North Yorkshire Moors railway

The North York Moors railway is full of history and heritage. The Route Starts in pickering and heads through Levisham, Newtondale Halt, Goathland, Grosmont and ends in Whitby. You can get on and off to explore each station with many interactive exhibitions and refreshments.

The Whitby Distillery

The Whitby Distillery has won many awards for their Gins and offers distillery tours 3 days a week, Friday-Sunday. This is a great day out for the older members of the family. You get a detailed instruction and tasting of their gins, a botanical masterclass, and get up close to the copper stills. Filey bay – Spirit of Yorkshire distillery - distillery tour

The Spirit of Yorkshire Distillery is the home of a unique farming family business, their whiskey is made from 100% homegrown Barley from the farm near Filey. With a visit to the Distillery you can enjoy a coffee and afternoon tea in their ‘Pot Still Coffee Shop’ or a distillery tour and whiskey tasting. Open 7 days a week, this is a fantastic place to visit whilst on route to the coast.

Peasholm park

Peasholm park is home to the famous dragon boat race in Scarborough and based in North Bay, is just a short walk away from the bright coloured beach huts and sea front. Peasholm park is free to visit all year round and boasts a tranquil lake. In the summertime you can hire pedalos, canoes and rowing boats. There are two cafes on the lake side where you can enjoy some refreshments whilst enjoying the surroundings of ponds, waterfalls and the view of Scarborough castle.

Playdale Farm park

Eden Camp

Eden Camp was a prisoner of war camp in World War 2 and is now an educational centre and museum being the world’s only Modern History Theme Museum when first created in 1985. Take in the sights, sounds and smells of World War 2 to take in the story of The Peoples War. This is a fun filled day for all the family with interactive exhibitions and realistic, life size models and displays. Each hut covers a different aspect of the war, you will come back from Eden camp, having a much deeper understanding of what really happened all those years ago.
